Youth Summer Hike Series

This exciting new program series is open to youth - 10 years and older. These events, which are free of charge, are open to residents of the Ashokan Watershed.  Generally, the Ashokan Watershed overlaps the towns of Shandaken, Olive, Woodstock and Hurley in Ulster County and Lexington and Hunter in Greene County.

August 11th -Rochester Hollow

This hike will follow the stream up Rochester Hollow and reach the monument to John Burroughs. Joining us will be Matt Savatgy who will be teaching about geology and how it impacts hydrology.

We will meet at the trailhead off Matyas Rd. between Pine Hill and Big Indian at 9:30am and return by 2:00pm.

Youth (10 and over) are required to bring water and a lunch as well as appropriate footwear and clothing for the weather.

The wearing of face masks is mandatory when stopped for education and conversation. Due to NYS physical distancing guidelines, each group will be limited to 10 individuals. All participants must agree to follow public health policies outlined for the event.

Once you register, please fill out our safety pledge and the insurance and liability waiver and return them to Linda Gonnella at lg457@cornell.edu
